Psychosomatics of headache

DO YOU HAVE FREQUENT HEADACHES THAT CANNOT BE Cured? MAYBE IT’S A PSYCHOSOMATIC’S HEADACHE?

If you constantly have headaches, psychosomatics may be the cause.

Psychological factors and their role in the onset of headaches have been known for centuries, and possibly millennia. It used to be thought that headache was caused by psychological factors, but it is now recognized that headache is a complex biomedical disorder in which psychological factors can play a supportive, supportive and / or reactive role. Psychophysiological factors interact with headache syndromes, genetic and environmental data, and new forms of non-pharmacological treatments for headache patients with psychological support – this is what our Altimed Medical Center is studying.

What is the psychosomatics of headaches?

Do you know how pain actually works? Although you feel pain at the site of the injury, the sensation does not come from there.

Pain is your brain’s interpretation of the data sent by your body

For example, when you hold your hand over a hot plate, sensory nerves transmit information to the spinal cord and brain, where pain is recorded and perceived.

Your brain interprets the “tissue is on fire” data and creates a sensation of pain to steer you away from a threat — in this case, a hot stove.

In this simple case, the causes and consequences of this are very clear.

But electrical signals can be distorted for many reasons. Your brain can become confused about what it “hears” from your sensory nerves, and think that you are in danger when it is not, which makes you feel pain.

This is what happens in cases of “psychosomatic pain”. It’s not that you’re crazy or making up something. The part of your brain that interprets sensory information from your body is simply out of order. That is why, often, headache is psychosomatics.

Chronic stress can heighten pain perception, so if you’ve struggled with it for a while, this is definitely an important factor.

Pain can become a habit in your brain. When your body is in pain, it becomes more sensitive to sensations. You will begin to suffer faster and from seemingly minor incidents that will not cause other people much pain. This phenomenon is called “central sensitization”, and it is far from psychosomatic pain.

Since, as discussed above, pain is a sensation generated by the brain and not coming from your muscles, tendons and bones, most pain can become weak when your nervous system is out of balance.

This seems to be the case with central sensitization, when your brain almost begins hallucinating pain symptoms as a result of normal touch and pressure. Again, while this is happening in your brain, it is the physiological result of the crossing of wires between mind and body.

Psychosomatics of headache

Depression is the most “popular” psychiatric comorbidity with migraine and is often a problem in the treatment of both disorders. People with migraines have an odds ratio of 2.5 for depression. This risk is more associated with women than with men. In addition, the incidence of depressive symptoms is higher in those with a longer history of headaches and a higher incidence of seizures. Those with tension headaches do not suffer from this increased risk of depression compared to controls. There is no evidence that the frequency of migraines increases due to the presence of anxiety or depression.

Migraine and depression have bidirectional comorbidities, suggesting some common component in the cause of both disorders. There is also a bi-directional risk of suicidality in migraine and depressed patients. It has recently been shown that the heredity of migraines has decreased in those people who are depressed. There is no significant qualitative difference in migraine headaches seen in mild individuals compared to severely depressed individuals.

Intracranial pressure of psychosomatics, as a rule, is associated with conflicts, emotional outbursts.

Psychosomatics – headache:

  1. Reaction to conflict or emotional trauma. This is especially true when a person is experiencing some kind of excitement or tension.
  2. Resentment, anger and hostility can also become one of the causes of pain in the temples of psychosomatics.
  3. Reaction to excessive stress, both physical and emotional.

When the mental level of a person is full, psychosomatics turns on, the vessels of the head tighten and cause pain.

Testimonials

I found out about the center on the Internet. I was interested in an unusual type of diagnosis, a food test and its price, which is lower than in other centers. As it turned out, the test was not by blood, but by hardware, without pain. On the same day I received a result and a doctor’s consultation. I try to feed on it, I test it so to speak. More about the results later.

I applied to Altimed in the summer of 2020, with my mother. Problems like all elderly people – high blood pressure, swelling, dizziness, arthritis. Vision deteriorated, noisy in my ears. She drank so many pills that it was possible to replace the normal diet. I took a course of 10 sessions, another month later. I didn’t believe it – the portion of the medicine was halved (!!!), my sleep improved, the edema subsided. The pressure stopped jumping.
